'Corto', being shown at the 16th and final Barcelona African Film Festival
This is the 16th and final time that Barcelona welcomes film-makers and actors from Africa for a festival celebrating the productions that come out of that huge, eclectic, often tormented but also hopeful continent.
The Arab spring, women's roles and young people are just some of the themes that are explored in the films that will be shown during the four-day event at the Cinemes Girona, which has been the regular home to the Mostra in recent years. Twelve countries including Niger, Burkina Faso, Algeria and Cameroon will be represented, with a special feature of films from Colombia. Guests include film-makers from Senegal, Mali and Mauritania and all films will be shown in their original language with subtitles either in Castilian or Catalan.
