The last of Wagner’s ring cycle, Götterdämmerung (‘The Twilight of the Gods’), is a monumental piece with complex music motifs that both summarise and enhance the previous three operas of the cycle. Having first opened in 1876, Wagner’s final instalment of his epic drama sees humans take on a leading role yielded by the Gods, in an impulse of self-destruction that shows how humanity violates the laws of nature. This mammoth German production is running at Gran Teatre del Liceu from February 28th until March 19th.
Tickets are available from €11. Performance dates are February 28th, March 3rd, March 7th, March 11th, March 14th & March 19th. More information here.
