From Warhol to East Village (The Art of Behaviour)
In collaboration with Circuit Festival, Franco de Toledo art projects counterpoints artistic and socio-cultural realities from both the east and the west.
For the first time in Spain visitors can see photographs portraying the "art of action", representative of the Beijing 'East Village', from which arose some of the most influential artists in the Chinese art world. All of the artists came together in the East district of Beijing, which had become by the end of the eighties and beginning of the nineties, one of the most abandoned zones in the city. Together they transformed contemporary Chinese art.
Next the exhibition looks at Andy Warhol, who changed the direction of universal art, showing to us our society driven by consumerism. Using the king of Pop Art, this exhibition attempts to understand the problems and differences in artistic attitude between the east and the west at that time.
