Taking place over the long weekend of September 9-12, hundreds of spectacles, performances, exhibitions and booths will provide round-the-clock entertainment based in and around Plaça de Sant Antoni. Though it's hard to pick highlights out of such a varied and impressive programme, one don't-miss event is the inaugural show, a kinetic sculpture presented by Voalà that includes aerial acrobats and optical illusions.
As the last weekend before many Catalans return to the grind of school and the beginning of autumn, Fira Tàrrega presents an opportunity to get out of town and set up camp in a bohemian atmosphere. With hundreds of free shows and exhibitions, this is an escape that is easy on the eyes and wallet.
There are regular buses and trains to Tàrrega but book ahead as they'll be in big demand during the festival.
