This month, the Fira de Barcelona is hosting the 5th edition of the Smart City Expo World Congress, putting the city, once again, at the heart of the global smart city movement. Attendance is predicted to be high, with mayors from all over the world expected at the event. There are a number of side events planned, including a symposium on the circular economy and an entrepreneurship convention hosted by the Mobile World Capital's 4YFN (Four Years From Now) programme.
With the focus this year on transportation, particularly the railway industry, the aim is to find ways of transforming the way cities work, manage their resources and attempt to make them more livable for their citizens; Le Corbusier’s dream. Mobility paradigms, self-driving vehicles and new Apps will also be featured at the Expo.
