The Filmoteca de Catalunya plays frenetic, French, comedy Golden Eighties (1986) as part of their series of Chantal Akerman films. The film, intended as a pastiche of mainstream Hollywood cinema, takes place entirely in a Parisian shopping centre and the plot revolves around the love lives of the owner and two employees of a beauty salon who are all interested in the same man, the son of neighbouring boutique owners. The characters sporadically burst into song throughout the film, which adds to the general atmosphere of madness. Golden Eighties will be shown in the film’s original language, French, with Spanish subtitles.
