Dies de Dansa
Two decades of this summer dance festival will be celebrated in style this year, with a host of choreography in different venues throughout the city and featuring dancers from around the world.
To mark the 20 years of Dies de Dansa (Days of Dance), part of the programme will feature a retrospective of past successes with companies that have performed in previous years returning; these include Ziya Azazi (Turkey), Anton Lachky (Slovakia) and Cie 7273 (Switzerland). While a new feature is DCODE, a virtual visit to the city in the form of 'videodance' using those mysterious QR black-and-white mobile barcodes that seem to be springing up everywhere. Videos have been filmed in different spaces around Barcelona, including Parc Güell, the MACBA, the Museu Picasso as well as less familiar places making 20 in all.
In total, Dies de Dansa 2011 will feature 35 performances by 30 companies from 15 different countries. There will also be dance workshops for all ages and related interactive events.
Please note that as well as the CCCB, venues for the event include the Fundació Joan Miró, CaixaForum and Pati Manning, while Sitges and Sabadell will also host some events.
