Festival de Música Popular de Barcelona offers three weeks of concerts for a variety of tastes all around the city. Originally a jazz festival, this event now includes genres such as blues, latin music, hip hop, samba, balkan music and funk.
Though not known for bringing the biggest names, the organisers claim to value quality rather than fame. Some highlights from the lineup include French jazz guitarist Raphaël Faÿs, Goran Slavich and his Balcan Jazz Quintet and British blues troubadour Errol Linton.
Apart from Harlem Jazz Club, concerts take place in Hotel Pulitzer, Circo Maldà, Restaurante Campechano, Sala Apolo 2, Nou Teatre Tantarantana, Antilla Latin Club, Q-Tres, Consulado General de la República Argentina, Luz de Gas, Underground, Bar Zim and film screenings are held at Cinema Maldà.
