In 2006, local venue Heliogàbal brought festival programming to Gràcia's Plaça de Rovira i Trías for the first time in more than 50 years. In its fifth year, the three days of music at Festigàbal is a collaboration between local residents and the venue, sending free music of all kinds through the Plaça and the surrounding area as the city joins Gràcia for the Festa Major.
Like the artists performing at the Heliogàbal venue itself, the festival's programme has a very grassroots feel. Performers come from Argentina, Spain and Italy and bring everything from Catalan garage punk to subtle jazz. One highlight is Pascal Comelade performing a collection of his favourite guitar riffs on a motley array of toy and improvised instruments.
The stage is located on the corner of Carrer de la Providència and Carrer del Torrent de les Flors, and all events are free - one of the many sound playgrounds in the midst of the visual wonderland of Gràcia's streets.
