A scene of the hungry press from 'La dolce vita' (1960) by Federico Fellini
Federico Fellini, one of Italy's most influential 20th century filmmakers, gets some well-deserved attention this spring at CaixaForum. 'El circo de las ilusiones' ('The Circus of Illusions') provides a comprehensive overview of the formation and evolution of Fellini's work, as well as his inextricable link to popular culture and cinema fantasy.
Viewer beware: whereas this exhibit is well-designed and highly visual, it is also quite Catalan and Castilian heavy. An essay by the curator, Sam Stourdzé, has been translated into English, and provides a basic overview.
