Since it premiered at the Théâtre Lyrique in Paris on 19th March 1859, Faust has captivated audiences worldwide with its spectacular romance and its remarkable collection of musical ballads.
Performed in five excerpts, Charles Gounod's version captures the undying love of the play's protagonists Faust and Marguerite. Supported by an excellent cast of singers, Gounod's version of this famous work is a great way to kick off Liceu's 2011-12 season.
Faust will also be present in two other performances: "Scenes of Goethe's Faust" by Rober Schumann on the 27th and 29th October followed by Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo with music from Franz List on 7th, 8th and 9th June 2012. Tickets can be bought here.
