The bold young Eva Hesse (1936-1970) made much headway for women in the artistic community, but when asked to comment on her role, she replied shortly, "excellence has no sex". Her death at just 34, an age when most artists' careers are finally starting to take off, left her work truncated. But despite her short career, her work influenced many in the second half of the last century. Her pieces are on display at the newly re-opened Fundació Antoni Tàpies along with works from Alma Matrix, Bracha L. Ettinger and Ria Verhaeghe.
