Baboon and child - Luis Cortés
Fifteen pieces in balsa wood by artist Luis Cortés make up this month-long show at La Galeria.
Each article represents a different animal and they have been created using a set number of articulated pieces and in such a way as to give the viewer a variety of images of each creature depending on the angle and direction in which they are looking at them, while they can also be rearranged to take up new forms. The animals on show include a baboon and child (35 pieces) and three lions together (24 pieces).
Cortés says that "form is a design of movement and sculptures are are a study of form from a kinetic point of view." Energy, motion and nature are brought together in his work on display.
