US composer and flautist, Peter Bacchus
Each of the three interactive concerts in this series, organised by GRUP21, will begin with a one-hour symposium that will then be followed by a live performance (the third event is a concert only). In addition, the whole event will be transmitted live on the website: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/grup21
The inaugural show is entitled 'Between fiction and interpretation: Tangible universes' and will feature Peter Bacchus, a US composer and flautist who is based in Barcelona. With him in the symposium will be José Manuel López López, the Madrileño composer and director of the Auditorio Nacional de Música, and together thee two will discuss the interaction between electronic and acoustic music, and images. The concert that follows will feature music from Pinkston, Chasalow and Brncic, as well as Bacchus and López López themselves.
GRUP21 has become a reference point in modern music; it fuses Catalan and international music, as well as different types of instrument, both traditional and innovative. It's directed by founder Peter Bacchus, who is a specialist in contemporary music and worked as a professional flautist for over 30 years. "The musicians of GRUP21 represent in many ways, the diversity of the European classical music world today," he explained. "Also the increasing exchange and recognition in contemporary music which goes back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean, between Europe and United States, and around the world.” Bacchus has lived in Barcelona for the past 18 years.
The other two concerts in this series will take place on November 19th and December 10th.
