Work is the Effort Against Resistance, 1976/2011
This exhibition covers the period of Ribé's artistic production from the late Sixties to the mid-Eighties and MACBA wished to centre on relatively unknown works that are nevertheless significant in the artists' work as a whole.
This period covers time spent in Paris, Chicago and New York where she stayed until 1980. As with her work in Paris, the pieces made in the US continue to explore space as an environment or medium in itself with the incorporation of geometry becoming visible. Works of note in this exhibition show her use of unusual materials such as water and foam and you will see a growing interest in found objects and move to performance and installation.
