Elena Rey will be performing as part of the musical project, Residències Musicals, which aims to support and raise the profile of some of the best young musicians across the country. Performers will either be working alone or with other musicians. The event will give artists the opportunity to showcase their versatility and talent as well as raise the profile of their careers.
The young violinist had an extensive and successful musical career. She began at the age of nine at the Musical Conservatory under the teachings of María Victoria Fernández. She then went on to study at the Liceu Higher Musical Conservatory with Gonçal Comellas, before continuing her studies at the Higher Music School of Catalonia under Kai Gleusteen. In 2008 she was mentioned as one of the most outstanding students in her department. Between 2007 and 2011 she received various grants from the Rayet Foundation, Albéniz Foundation and AIE-Queen Sofía Higher School of Music, where she went on to study with the renowned violin teachers Yuri Volguin and Zakhar Bron. She has been the member of various predtigious orchestras across the country and now plays with the Sony Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Freixenet and Sinfonnietta of the Reina Sofía Superior Music School.
Rey will be performing this chamber concert playing pieces from Brahms, Kachtaturian, and Stravinski.
