Barcelona's most famous music school Taller de Músics, has been turning out top-notch jazz, flamenco and rock musicians for 35 years. For the third year running they have teamed up with record label Bankrobber to bring Barcelona's best instrumentalists and vocalists together through the Connexions festival. Experimental by nature it treats Barcelona as a musical melting pot where the most unlikely combinations can bring about new and innovative fusions. More than 20 musicians will take to the stage on the 7th as the exceptional Free Spirits Big Band, led by David Mengual will join forces with El Petit de Cal Eril, in a collision and fusion of styles. On the 14th there's a chance to see Rumbamazigha 2.0, a multicultural project that aims to unite many different musical genres from Rumba Catalana to Magrebi sounds. This is melodic, festive music that really knows no boundaries and defies any label. And, on the 21st, it's big band music Jamaica-style with The Gramophone Allstars Big Band, an energetic explosion of soul and funk.
The main cycle takes place at Sala Apolo, whilst two sub cycles, called Desconnexions, are held at JazzSí Club and Almo2bar.
