RENT (1996) is a rock musical written by Jonathan Larson, whose stirring and life-affirming score captures the heart and spirit of a generation of struggling artists, addicts and impoverished young people living in the shadow of AIDS, as well as battling the coming wave of gentrification. Directed by Daniel Anglès, whose recent credits include the Spanish adaptations of Mamma Mía! (2015) and Los Miserables (2014), the first-ever Catalan adaptation of the famous musical will run until March 20th at the Casino L’Aliança del Poblenou. Featuring ‘Seasons of Love’—one of musical theatre’s most iconic numbers—this uplifting tale of fulfillment against the odds will leave you with watery eyes one minute, and a satisfied smile the next.
