Barbero ambulante en el barrio de Somorrostro. Barcelona, c. 1915
Between the years of 1909 and 1945, industrial Barcelona suffered a long period of social and political changes and conflicts.
The Telefonica Foundation, in collaboration with the National Archive of Catalunya, has compiled over 300 of Josep Brangulí's original photographs and printed material for this exhibition. As a retrospective collection of Brangulí's work, the photographs act as a look behind the work of a man who wanted to capture all aspects of society at the time, whether it was a public movement or just moments of everyday life in the first half of the 20th century.
The exhibition is much more than just Brangulí documentary photography. It is a sociological look at a society that wanted to move forward and leave behind the 19th century.
