Sponsored by Banc Sabadell, the annual tennis tournament returns to Real Club de Tennis Barcelona for the second biggest tennis event in Spain (behind the Madrid Open). Since 1953, the Barcelona Open has seen many international sportsmen come together for both singles and doubles tournaments, including Herbert Flam, Manuel Santana, Guillermo Vilas, Mats Wilander and the eight-time winner, Rafael Nadal. The first weekend sees the qualifier matches take place, with the weekday games leading up to the grand final on Sunday April 24th. For the last two consecutive years, Japanese tennis player Kei Nishikori has been crowned champion—will he be crowned champion for a third year in a row, or can Nadal make a comeback to claim his ninth title?
