Barcelona celebrates its 39th marathon in style this Sunday. If you're not one of the 17,000 runners taking on the gruelling 42-kilometre route, there's still plenty to do this weekend (besides cheering on the runners of course).
Breakfast run The day before the marathon, on Saturday 11th, the traditional Breakfast Run will leave from the magic fountain at Montjuïc at 9.30am. The course is approximately 4 kilometres and is free. It's limited to 2,000 participants.
Pasta Party Know anyone running the marathon? If so, you can be their 'plus one' at this free carb-loading pasta fest on Saturday 11th between noon and 4pm at the Expo Sports area.
Kids' races The children can join in their own race on Saturday 11th. There will be different races for all ages. Make sure you sign up first. See here for the details.
Live events To keep the runners and spectators cheerful there will be more than 40 animation points along the marathon route offering all kinds of live acts, from castellers and rock music to drummers and rumba. The race starts at 8.30am with the first runners expected to finish at 10.40am. See the map here.
