Two works, connected not only by their brevity, but by the influence Montsalvatge had over Poulenc. Montsalvatge's Una voce in off is a romantic, one-act opera that is divided into three scenes, premiered in 1962 at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Similarly, Poulenc's La voix humaine also consists of only one act, premiered in 1959 in Paris. In both works, an absent character is pivotal to both the plot and the emotional balance of the female lead.
The two works come together on February 20th at the Liceu for one night only.
