Neighbourhood associations have long been an important engine of social activism and cultural activity in Spanish towns, and this exhibition at Barcelona's city history museum aims to recognise that. Marking their 40th anniversary, the show explores the four decades of such groups both in Barcelona and in Madrid, examining their role in the dying years of Francoism and the transition to democracy and arguing that many of the urban, social and cultural developments we see today would have been impossible without their contribution.
