MACBA’s new collection seeks to communicate the museum’s personality and its inspiration for the future. The narratives embodied within the museum’s 6,000 pieces of art seek to connect the museum’s current position with viewers. The exhibition questions the role of imagery and the way art has transformed in recent history due to accelerated media and technological developments. The first floor of the Meier building is dedicated to showcasing these latest additions to the collection. Open until June 2017, the MACBA Collection 31 promotes reflection and contemplation about the museum and art in general, and their consequent places in the world today.
