In honour of Barcelona’s co-patron saint, Santa Eulàlia, February 12th has been declared a local holiday. A day of street celebrations and parades is in store, including the procession of the Laies (a parade of giant statues), a correfoc and much more.
The visual treats are not limited to one day, however. Santa Eulalia coincides with the annual festival of light, Llum BCN, which will transform Ciutat Vella into a dazzling beacon of brilliance.
This year, there are three routes to follow around the city: Born-Montcada, Catedral-Mar and Virreina-Rambla. Each route consists of an itinerary designed to help visitors discover the installations and light shows in a particular area. This year highlights include Playmodes Studio's Colorama light show, projected on Plaça de Sant Jaume, and an installation by Elisava (Barcelona School of Design and Engineering) in the Museu Picasso.
