David Campos spares no punches in ripping Don Quijote out of his 16th century Spanish context. The modern essence of this ballet opens Cervantes' classic novel to a new public by repositioning it in a contemporary context of image and sound, but also by placing Barcelona at the very heart of the plot. The affirmation of the importance of the common place reinterprets this Castilian masterpiece with a typically Catalan twist, albeit without ever losing sight of the burlesque and the no little cruelty with which Cervantes first tinged his text.
