Catalan Rumba pioneer, singer-songwriter and guitarist Michael ‘Micu’ Rodergas performs at Artte in Barcelona alongside percussionist and singer Climent Campà. Rodergas began his musical exploration in 2001 in the Gràcia district of Barcelona, forming group Meztuca. The band were inspired by legends such as the Gypsy Kings, Gato Pérez and Pescaílla and combined classic repertoires of Catalan rumba with well-known pop songs. After the band split in 2009, Rodergas began working on his solo career, continuing to celebrate the authentic Catalan music scene and producing two albums. Micu performs tracks from his latest album, Bandaband (2015), incorporating sounds from jazz, funk and rock alongside rumba to create an interesting musical fusion.
