The works in the exhibition "Primavera" ("Spring" in English) are inspired by the explosion of color and joy that characterizes this season of the year and come to life in large format works with vibrant colors, crude pigments and broken still delicate lines.
The works follow a floral theme close to abstract expressionism: rapid strokes are the main protagonists of Mercedes Roglá’s artistic line, and are accompanied by various typographies that allow us to read the keywords of her inspiration such as "breath","life" ... where the specificity of movement, its strength and its energy are noticeable in the brushstrokes.
Mercedes Roglá dares to paint directly onto the bare canvas : the essence of the work lies in the shapes of petals and corolla. Grayish red and blue colors vibrate on the brute force of the canvas.
Textures, drops and pigments are transformed into a festival of life and emotions through the large number of flowers which, through their colors and shapes, embody a moment in the life of everyone. Roglá’s artworks invite us to celebrate spring while reminding us that time flies. Tempus Fugit. Carpe diem.
