You are not alone
"When you share, you are not alone" - Han Nefkens, Dutch writer and art collector
The Fundació Joan Miró and the ArtAids Foundation present 'You are not alone', an exhibition created to prompt reflection on the discrimination and stigmatisation that AIDS sufferers are subject to even to this day.
Although medical advances have improved the quality of life for people who have AIDS, the social rejection they experience on an everyday basis has, however, made very little progress over the years. With all of the misconceptions and ignorance in the world, this show demonstrates that art can help change people's views and attitudes on the matter.
Fourteen internationally acclaimed artists have created works specifically for the exhibition, stimulating a fresh look at the need for the sharing of knowledge and experience in order to continue the fight the disease the social stigmas that arise from it. Each offer a vision of AIDS from the perspective of different countries on different continents. Their works aim to raise awareness among viewers and encourage those who are struggling to fight the illness and prejudice both openly and without fear.
