From today, 70 percent of the flights in and out of Barcelona's El Prat airport will use the new Terminal 1 (article in Castilian, El Periodico). Nineteen airlines have been operating from the terminal since June 17th, and now a further 17 companies will be using it, including Iberia, Vueling, British Airways and other members of the One World alliance. This managers of this service say that the move will shave 12 minutes off the journey time, thanks to the closeness of the terminal to the airport's runways, helping it compete better with the high-speed train link between the two cities that in the past year has managed to capture an important proportion of customers travelling on this route.
