Two Catalan businessmen have been released by their kidnappers (article in Castilian) after two weeks of captivity in Nigeria. On March 13th, Josep Bufí and Alonso Boj were kidnapped while in the west African country for business negotiations related to their plastic packaging company. Significant credit for the successful negotiations for their safe release are going to Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, and the Minister of the Interior, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba as well as Nigerian police forces. The men return to Spain today.

Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero announced via internet video today that the goal of the G-20 Summit (article in Castilian) to be held later this week in London is to initiate the recovery of the global economy. The Prime Minister reassured citizens that the summit will serve to establish a more just, secure and transparent international order for economy and finance. Leaders from 22 countries will be present at the summit.

Regal FC Barcelona basketball player Juan Carlos Navarro, known as 'the bomb', has suffered a strained muscle (article in Castilian) in the femoral bicep of his right leg. The team's medical trainers say it is unlikely Navarro will be fit to play in Wednesday's highly anticipated Euroliga quarterfinals match against hot favourites TAU Cerámica.
