In what is being praised as one of the best 'clásicos' of recent years, Barcelona won in a closely fought game that saw both teams with several chances to score and both teams reduced to 10 men (article in Castilian, La Vanguardia). But thanks to a goal at the start of the second half by Ibrahimovic in the 56th minute, Barcelona are now two points ahead of their old rivals. Plus for the first time Mediapro projected the game in 51 cinemas across the country.
Three Catalans who were on a humanitarian convoy for Barcelona Accio Solidària in Mauritania were kidnapped (article in Castilian, La Vanguardia). Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba, Interior Minister said that there was 'every reason' to believe that the kidnapping was the work of al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. The three hostages including the son of the former Regional Minister of the Environment were attacked by a group of gunmen about 150 kilometers from the capitial Nouakchott on one of the busiest road in the country. President Montilla is said to have talked to the families of the hostages and to the NGOs that they belong to. Montilla said that "the objectives are to elucidate and obtain the exact identity of the kidnappers".
Four Catalan municipalities are fighting to secure the future headquarters of the Museu Nacional del Còmic i la Il·lustració (article in Catalan, El Punt). According to sources close to the advisory committee of the future museum a decision will be made before the end of the year to see whether Badalona, Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Feliu de Llobregat or Sitges will be successful in their bid. At the current time it would seem that Badalona is the favourite and best located but the city council refused to make a statement as to whether the government had offered the CACI building on the seafront.
A survey done by La Vanguardia revealed that four in ten respondents believe that the administration of Barcelona is bad or very bad (La Vanguardia). The ski stations celebrated the first full weekend of the season with lots of snowfall after a fairly mild November (El Periodico).
