CiU suffers a setback in yesterday's elections, loosing 12 of its previously held 62 seats, a disappointing blow for President Artur Mas and his party, who had hoped to see a win with an absolute majority (read story here). ERC President, Oriol Junqueras has reacted to the election results by leaving open the possibility of a future coalition with the CiU (read story here). Despite being deemed illegal by the Board of Elections, hundreds of people gathered in Plaza Sant Jaume and along Las Ramblas this weekend to mark the international day against gender violence (read story here).
Catalan police force, Los Mossos, have dismantled a prostitution ring controlled by the Nigerian Mafia, which had been operating around Las Ramblas and Les Corts (read story here). The San Miguel Primavera Club Festival has lost a further venue as the Mercat de les Flors, due to host 18 performances, has not received the necessary license, following the closure of other primary venue Apolo last week (read story here). Further TMB bus and metro strikes have been announced for the month of December, which will see a total strike on the 16th and a partial strike on the 24th as well as bus strikes between December 17th-21st (read story here).
