The loss of talented Spaniards who are moving abroad to find work elsewhere, particularly in the UK and Germany, will cause problems for Spain to recover from the present crisis - in 2011, more than 62,000 people left Spain; Government wants to reform energy policy as part of its attempts to reduce spending deficit - the cabinet is also studying a restructuring of the public sector; Catalan synchronised swimmer Gemma Mengual says she understands Arantxa Sánchez's situation with her parents, and talks about her own experience.

EL PERIODICO (Castilian / Catalan)

Illegal copying of books could threaten thousands of jobs in the Spanish publishing sector, which employs 80,000 people including 25,000 in Barcelona; Ahead of the PP congress in Seville, some Partido Popular directors want to reduce the power of the party's secretary general, María Dolores de Cospedal; Negotiations hoped to call off public transport strike next week will be managed by the Generalitat's Employment department.

EL PUNT-AVUI (Catalan)

Girona businessman Joaquim Vidal i Perpinyà has become the majority shareholder of El Punt-Avui in a move that is hoped will save the newspaper from further job losses; Catalan president Artur Mas says that he believes it is possible for Catalunya to become an independent state within the EU, in an interview with French newspaper Le Monde.
