If you're planning to be in the Costa Brava this July and August, while you're there it's worth checking out what's happening in the Porta Ferrada Festival, taking place in the charming seaside town of Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
For its 51st edition, the festival has flamenco legend Diego el Cigala getting proceedings going, with a concert on July 19th that showcases his latest album (Romance de la luna Tucumana), and begins a series of 21 concerts that take in a wide range of musical genres and talent. Al 'Moonlighting theme tune' Jarreau performs on August 6th, followed a day later by the popular Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club, while Oscar-winner Jorge Drexler takes to the stage on August 10th. There will also be a concert for under-threes on Sunday 21st July (Teatre Auditori Narcís Masferrer) and some of the leading US jazz musicians present an homage to the legendary Duke Ellington on August 15th in the Espai Port.
