Public piano painting

Over the next couple of weeks, residents and visitors of Barcelona will be able to spot, and indeed play, 20 pianos 'sprinkled' around the city in various parks, as part of a project called 'Toca'm, sóc teu' ('Play me, I'm yours'), which has already been carried out in London, Syndney and Sao Paolo. It's all part of Barcelona's 56th Maria Canals International Competition of Music, which sees renowned pianists from around the world come to the Catalan capital to compete for prestige and the first prize of €20,000.

With over 150 participants signed-up, this year's Historic Rally Costa Brava is being touted as the most international edition of the popular car competition, which sees entrants race around the windy and picturesque roads of the Catalunya's northern coastal region. Now in its seventh year, this edition will see the cars leave from just in front of the Magic Fountains in Montjuïc, beginning from 7pm (with one car leaving each minute), and see them drive around part of the old Montjuïc Formula One track before heading into the city centre and Passeig de Gràcia - Diagonal. It's a special occasion for fans of classic sports cars, which can include Porsches, Opels and Fiats.

Eros Ramazzotti concert pushed back one day

If you've got tickets to the Eros Ramazzotti concert scheduled for this evening, don't start heading up Montjuïc just yet—the concert has been pushed back to the same time (9pm) tomorrow, February Tuesday 16th. The reason being that during the set-up of the stage for the Italian singer's show, some technical problems were discovered that caused the organisers to postpone the concert for 24 hours.

Celebrate Santa Eulalia

While most Barcelona residents, locals and foreigners, are more than familiar with the annual festivities to mark the city's patron Santa Mercè, perhaps some are less au fait with Eulàlia, who was the original patron saint for Barcelona. For reasons too complicated (and er, perhaps ironically, unknown by us at 'In the know'), someone in their wisdom decided some time back to demote Eulàlia and promote Mercè in her place. However, the city still bows its head each year to the first Santa, whose saint's day is February 12th, and while the events are subdued compared to La Mercè in September, you'll still find things to do.
