Fundacio Joan Miro
Personatges sobre fons vermell (1939)
From today, the Fundació Miró expands its permanent collection of pieces by the Catalan artist with 17 works on paper that have been donated by the Miró family and were produced between 1931 and 1953. Paper was one of the materials that Joan Miró consistently used for the creation of his emblematic works of art, and he used a variety of paper types including cardboard, newspaper and second-hand paper.
In addition, there is a new installation for the permanent collection, which allows visitors a more in-depth insight into the career and output of Miró, and puts his work into the historical context in which he worked.
In conjunction with this inauguration, entry to the Fundació Joan Miró will be free every Thursday from February 18th, 2010 to March 25th, 2010 between 5 and 9pm.
