Barcelona Opportunity Week
From January 28th to February 6th, 'Barcelona Opportunity Week' will offer discounts of up to 50 percent on different activities around the city including cinema, theatre, museums and certain purchases at markets and florists as well as reductions at restaurants and hotels. With the aim of stimulating the local economy at a traditionally slow time of the year, and organised by Turismo de Barcelona and the city council, the reductions are available to both residents and tourists. It's an extension of last year's successful Barcelona Restaurant Week, which in turn was taken from similar initatives that take place in cities around the world such as New York.
If you're looking to spend a special night with a loved one, 37 of the city's hotels are offering cut-price rooms, including the luxury Mandarin Oriental and W. In terms of restaurants, 40 are taking part in the event with special menus on offer for just €25. Cinemas, theatres and live-music venues will be offering two-for-one tickets; in 11 markets, 538 stalls will sell three chosen products at discount; while 35 florists will have bouquets on sale for just €11.
A percentage of the money made during Barcelona Opportunity Week will go to Intermón (Oxfam), Sant Joan de Déu Foundation and the Banc dels Aliments (Food Banks).
More information is available from the website www.bcnow.cat, where it is also possible to make reservations, where applicable; they can also be made directly through participating venues.
