There's not a cloud in the sky today and temperatures seem to be staying around the 30ºC mark at the hottest. Phew! It would appear that the Barcelona weather forecast is as determined as ever to keep our minds off the economy and on our summer tan.
However, if you're anywhere near the Passeig de Gràcia train station or are planning on getting a train today the effects of Spanish economic woes are sure to catch up with you. As well as the odd protest over austerity measures and the recent cuts in welfare, Renfe is operating 66 per cent of its services during peak hours due to a strike. Despite the limited service and a handful of incidences causing delays, the strike isn't causing too much disruption for travellers so far. For Renfe, however, it's proving disastrous. The Ministerio de Fomento (Ministry of Development) has calculated that the strike will cost the train company up to €4 million.
On a brighter note, we have the weekend to look forward to! The party continues at the Circuit Festival and Spanish singer Rosana is performing songs from her new album on Saturday. If you're still stuck for something to do this weekend or over the coming weeks, have a read of our suggestions.
More from Summer in Barcelona on Monday. Enjoy the weekend.
