The following films will be premiering this week in Barcelona cinemas:
Indomable (Brave) - The latest offering from Pixar sees a recalcitrant Scottish princess (Merida) refuse to marry the man to whom she has been offered. Unsure as to what she should do, Merida consults a witch for help and advice. Naturally, Merida's actions result in the enveloping of her kingdom in a curse (her mother and brothers are transformed into bears). Merida is thus faced with the task of resolving a seemingly impossible situation. Skilled with a bow, bursting with courage, and as impetuous as they come, the red-haired Merida makes a very different yet immensely likeable heroine.
La Era del Rock (Rock of Ages) - Based upon the 2006 rock jukebox Broadway Musical of the same name, Rock of Ages is a multi-layered tale projected through the medium of rock music. An all-star cast have joined director Adam Shankman including Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J. Blige, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, and Julianne Hough. The film focuses upon the various goings-on (think love affairs and rock concerts) of the various different characters, the centrepiece being the debt-ridden nightclub, 'The Bourbon Room'.
Ted - Seth Macfarlane's (best known for Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show) first directorial outing (for a full length feature film). John (played by Mark Wahlberg) wished upon a falling star in his childhood that his teddy bear (Ted, whom is voiced by Macfarlane himself) would come to life. His wish having come true, the film documents the relationship between an all grown-up John, a rather depraved Ted, and John's girlfriend of four years, Lori (Mila Kunis). A laugh-a-minute comedy with an original plotline, this film should amuse and entertain even the most stolid of cinema-goers.
