Sala Montjuïc returns on June 29th with all the essential elements that have made it so popular for the past six years: a concert while people find their patch of ground, a screening of Catalan and Spanish shorts followed by the main movie (in original version).
A variety of films in 35mm will be shown on a giant screen every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday night at 10pm for five weeks. All films will be shown in their original versions with Spanish subtitles. This year’s picks include recent hits like No Country For Old Men alongside classics such as Hitchcock’s The Birds; social and political themes are dealt with in the 2004 feature Turtles Can Fly from Kurdish-Iranian director Bahman Ghobadi, the first film to be made in Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein, and Palme d’Or winner 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days about illegal abortion in Ceausescu's Romania.
Different musicians and bands will play live music prior to each screening starting around 9pm, so bring your family and a picnic dinner and enjoy a summer’s evening on the lawn.
Tickets are sold by the Montjuïc castle starting at 8.30pm for €5, or you can purchase your tickets in advance at www.servicaixa.com. Deckchairs will be on offer for €3.
