This is a month of new seasons: for one, autumn begins on the 21st, the (official) cue for leaves to fall, chestnuts to roast and everyone to be confused about what to wear (too cold for summer outfits but too early to bring out the winter wardrobe). The 2009/10 football season is also fresh out of the blocks, with bets being taken on whether Barça can repeat the triplet or if the Madrid coffers will prove big enough to actually win them something this year. And the Giggling Guiri opens its (metaphorical) doors once again with the commencement of its latest programme of stand-up comedy. First up and aiming to get our laughing gear back in shape is Scottish comedian (actress, author, columnist and blogger) Janey Godley. She’s bringing us her freshly-ended Edinburgh festival show ‘Godley’s World’, which draws on some of her experiences from performing around the globe, including in Australia, New Zealand and the US. A fine start to the season, indeed.
