House sales increase
June house sales in Spain rose by 8.8% compared to June 2013, although the overall figures for the first half of the year are lower than the same period in 2013.
Plans to regulate cannabis consumption
The Generalitat has said that it plans to regulate cannabis consumption to resolve the grey area in which the region's cannabis clubs operate. One of the proposals is to limit club membership to Spanish residents in order to stop "cannabis tourism".
IMAX closes its doors
IMAX has announced the closure of both its Barcelona IMAX cinemas. The Barcelona IMAX, which is located in Port Vell, opened in 1995 but has seen a big drop in visitors over the last few years. There are proposals to use the site for shops and restaurants.
Fifty five percent of the 4,501 bar and restaurant terraces in the city do not meet follow all legal requirements and over 250 operate without a licence. The inspection process is being stepped up to catch places flouting the law, particularly those that operate illegally.
Circuit Festival attracts big crowds
The gay festival, Circuit, which opened on August 6th has brought over 71,000 people to the city. The festival is the largest gay event in Europe and lasts 11 days.
