Extensive roadworks are to be carried out across Barcelona this summer, according to a catalogue of plans revealed by the recently appointed head of town planning, Janet Sanz. The 61 works will cost the city €10.7m and will be concentrated mainly on the Diagonal, Gran Vía, Meridiana and Ronda de Dalt.
The roadworks are expected to cause significant disruption, especially during August and in the outskirts of the city. Janz has apologised in advance for any inconvenience that may be caused and urges 'understanding and patience', insisting that when the works are finished it will benefit the city as a whole.
