Thursday 22nd September will mark this year’s Car Free Day, as Sustainable Mobility Week 2016 draws to a close. The European event began on September 16th, with the aim of raising awareness and promote environmentally-friendly and healthy travel. The week kicks off with Park(ing) Day where public parking spaces are transformed into places for pedestrians, with over 55 organisations in Barcelona participating last year. The final day sees a restriction on driving around the city to promote reduced use of private vehicles, resulting in 58 roadblocks across 10 districts of the city, including busy, central streets such as Via Laietana and Gran de Gràcia.
