The Spanish airline, part of parent group IAG, has cut numerous flights since Thursday due to ‘operational difficulties’. Vueling, who are based in El Prat de Llobregat, have caused disruptions to Barcelona’s main airport, among others, due to a lack of provision and sufficient resources for their expansion in flight numbers. Worsened by strikes by French air traffic controllers, the situation has brought a heavy blow to tourists at the start of the peak holiday season with hundreds of angry passengers left stranded and protesting at the airline’s check-in desks at Barcelona El Prat. In an attempt to prevent further disruption and chaos, Vueling have announced they are in the process of hiring more pilots and renting more planes.
