Barcelona has been ranked 15th on the Economist's Safe Cities Index 2015, ahead of Madrid at 21st. The list was topped by Tokyo, Singapore and Osaka in first, second and third place respectively, with Stockholm and Amsterdam coming a close fourth and fifth.
The rankings were based on scores out of 100 in four separate categories—digital security, health security, infrastructure safety, and personal safety. Data was collected from 50 of the world's most important cities. Jakarta was at the bottom of the list with a score of 53.71, compared to Tokyo's 85.63.
