Barcelona closed 2015 with 89,398 people registered as unemployed. This is the lowest figure since March 2009 when 88,206 of the Catalan capital's workforce were without jobs. The city's worst month for employment was March 2013 when over 115,000 people were registered as unemployed.
The barrio with the most people out of work is Marina del Prat Vermell in Zona Franca where the percentage is 19.5%, followed by Ciutat Meridiana (17.3%) and Trinitat Nova (16.8%). The barrios with the least unemployed are Pedralbes (3.6%), Vallvidrera and Sarrià (both at 3.7%)
