Airbnb isn't low-cost in Barcelona
Recent research shows that the average price per night to stay in a home via Airbnb is 99 euros. This is slightly higher than the price of a four-star hotel in the city (95 euros).
The sales begin with optimism
The sales have got off to a peaceful but busy start. Catalan businesses hope to turn over up to a total of 825 million euros this year, a three percent increase on last year's sales. It's estimated that the average spend per person will be between 90 and 100 euros.
Unemployment falls in Catalunya
The number of unemployed people at the end of 2014 was 575,948, nearly eight percent less than the previous year. For the first time since December 2010, the number of unemployed in Barcelona fell below 100,000, at 99,056 people.
Works on the Canódromo begin
The old greyhound track on Av. Meridiana is being transformed into a centre of creativity and innovation. A million and a half euros have been invested to create this new space, which will will be completed in June this year.
Catalunya on alert for high air pollution
From 6am this morning the Generalitat put into force its protocol for air pollution, due to high levels of contamination in the atmosphere. The speed limit on the 'vias rapidas' in over 40 towns
will be reduced to 90 km/hour.
